1. If I wish to extend my trip, are you able to change the date of my flight tickets?
Yes, as long as there is enough space in the plane available, it should be ok. Some times you have to pay an extra US$ 10.00 for changing the date, this depends on the company you fly with. We will assist you as much as possible.

2. Is there a minimum or maximum age limit for these trekking tours?
There is no strict age limit but for many tours in Peru it is important for people under 18 years to travel with an adult as his/her representative. Also, for people over 50 years old, it is recommended to be in good condition in order to participate in these tours. It will be important to bring with you your travel insurance.

3. How far in advance do I have to book the tours?
We recommend to book in advance 2 to 3 months before the date of your tour because the number of visitors for especially the Inca trail is limited. You can always ask about available dates by calling to +51 84 236466.

4. Is the trek difficult, do I need to be in top shape? 
Discovering the Inca Highway is a program designed for travellers with and without  trekking experience, plus you will arrive in Cusco 2 days before your starting trekking point. These will be your acclimatization days. You will do relaxing activities on these days (check the Itinerary). The Inca Trail is 45 Km. The maximum elevation lies at 4200 meters - the trek will be at a very moderate pace and there is ample time to watch the mountains, the plants, the birds, stopping for snacks, for lunch and for explanation about the Incas. The first day we walk 15km over 8 hours, the second day 15km over again 8 hours,  the third day 10 km in 5 hours and the last day 5km over 2 hours; from all of them the first day is the hardest. We use non traditional camping sites to enjoy the nature. Considering all, we recommend that you exercise, walk, run or work out some, before you come over to Peru. Our main goal is that every one who walks the Inca Trail with SUNRISE will finish.

5. What about payments?
We will require a non-refundable trek deposit of US$150.00 per person. The deposit can be submitted by WESTERN UNION money transfer. This is the fastest and most secure form of payment in Peru. Please state SUNRISE EXPEDITIONS TOUR OPERATOR E.I.R.L as the recipient. Once you arrive to Cusco you pay the balance in cash by either US dollars or in local currency (Peruvian Soles).

6. Can I use a trekking or walking stick on the inca trail?
It helps when you come down the steps and for on the Inca Trail. We have quite a few of them and we normally recommend official trekking sticks but the spikes should be protected with rubber tips and not cause destruction on the Incan paved stones. Please take note that you can purchase the trekking sticks in Cusco made of bamboo dry wood.

7. What is the weather like on the inca trail?
The Inca Trail runs across the mountains and cloud forests and therefore you will encounter variable weather conditions. You  should be prepared for all kinds of weather. In this part of Peru, we have two seasons: Summer from November to May that we consider the raining period so, the days are humid, warm and the nights are not very cold. The winter season ranges from April to October, this we consider the dry period, the nights are cold and the days are dry, hot and it rains rarely. 

8. What do we do for water on the inca trail?
For the first walking day  you should have one liter of drinkable water with you. If you run out of it, you can buy along the trail until the last 2 days. After the first lunch time, at every meal, we will have available drinkable water for you to refill your water bottles. Is not necessary to carry with you purification pills.

9. What is the weather like in the jungle?
Peru lies in the Southern Hemisphere, located at 13° South of the Equator, for this reason the weather is somewhat variable, though , especially in the jungle, from December to March it rains quite often. 

10. Were can I store my back pack?
You can leave it at the hotel or at the Sunrise office while you are on tour; you do not have to pay extra for this service.
